An Industrial Take On The Height-Adjustable Table
The Café de Lyon isn't just another height-adjustable table: its cast iron base, inspired by a genuine IPN beam, gives it a clearly industrial look. The solid wood top sitting on top softens the whole without ever weighing it down.
It changes role depending on the time of day. A dining table in the evening, it becomes a standing desk during the day, or a high table for drinks with friends. One table, several uses: that's the whole point of a well-designed adjustable-height table. If the cast iron and IPN look isn't quite what you're after, the Hupe adjustable table offers a cleaner take on the adjustable leg.
Cast Iron Leg, Crank Mechanism
Each leg carries the letters CDL, welded straight into the cast iron — Café de Lyon, spelled out in full. The solid central pillar takes its cue directly from the IPN beams used in industrial settings, for a raw, deliberate look.
The crank adjusts the height from 76 to 103 cm, with no effort. The ratchet shaft is greased in our workshop before shipping, for smooth adjustment from day one, whether you use it daily or now and then.

Solid Wood Species
The top is chosen independently of the leg, from a selection of solid wood built to last:
- Light oak: fine grain, bright tone, sturdy for everyday use.
- Acacia: resistant, with noticeable colour variation.
- Reclaimed wood: every top is different, carrying its own history.
- Mango wood: exotic species, warm, contrasting tones.
Tabletop Size
The top ranges from 160 to 300 cm, fitting anything from an intimate meal to a large gathering. Size is a personal call: it's worth going larger if the table will also double as a desk or occasional work surface.
Need more length later on? Our extension system adds to it without compromising the table's stability or seating comfort.
Tabletop Edges
Straight edges give a clean, fairly contemporary line that pairs well with the raw character of the cast iron base.
Natural edges keep the original outline of the trunk, sapwood included. Each top becomes a piece of its own, with its own irregularities.
Made-to-Measure Finishes
Two options for the tabletop finish:
- strong>Workshop preparation: oil or varnish applied by us, allow 2 to 4 weeks.
- Raw sanded top: available right away, to treat yourself however you like.

Some tabletops and bases are already available in our workshop, which means your table can be ready within 24 hours. However, for a truly custom-made table, you should generally allow 4 to 6 weeks — the time needed for careful, bespoke craftsmanship.
Can I visit the workshop to choose my tabletop and table bases?
Yes, by appointment. This way, you can explore our selection of 250 solid wood tabletops (from 140 to 300 cm) and 40 base designs, allowing you to create a custom-made table that perfectly suits you.
Is it possible to order just a table base or a tabletop?
At VitaDeco, there’s no fixed formula: base only, tabletop only, or both together — the choice is yours. This way, you can create a unique table, perfectly suited to your style and your space.
Do you offer extension systems for tables?
Yes, we offer custom-made extensions. As a result, you can add 50 cm extensions to one or both sides of your custom table.
Can I design and order my custom-made table remotely?
Yes, it is absolutely possible to order your solid wood table without travelling. Thanks to a video appointment, you can choose the tabletop, base, and finishes. Afterwards, our specialized delivery partners ensure a smooth delivery, anywhere, internationally.
